AICPA introduces its new “Start Here, Go Places.” Web site
The AICPA recently launched an updated version of the Start Here, Go Places. Web site. The award-winning Start Here, Go Places. program encourages high school and college students to pursue careers in accounting and ultimately to become CPAs. Enhancements include:

• The “FutureMe” feature allowing students to create a future vision of themselves and discover accounting career paths that best suit their goals.
• Meet a CPA feature with testimonials of each individual. CPAs are catalogued by interest and/or state. 3) Detailed information for each step of the journey to becoming a CPA.
• Salary and demand information for dozens of accounting careers.

Student sports enthusiasts may enjoy Financial Football
Get your team ready for the big game with these engaging, football-themed money skills lessons. The Financial Football Training Camp is a lesson plan that will help you teach important financial literacy skills to your students. The four modules, each designed to teach in a 45 minute class, cover skills and information that will be vital to students' futures.

Record number of students receive accounting degrees
According to a new AICPA report, “2009 Trends in the Supply of Accounting Graduates and the Demand for Public Accounting Recruits,” a record number of students in the 2007-2008 school year graduated with accounting degrees. More than 66,000 students achieved bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting, a 3.5 percent increase from 2006-2007. In addition, 2007-2008 enrollments in undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs achieved a 4.7 percent increase over the previous year, with an aggregate total of 213,000 students.
