The Process Of The Strategic Plan

On June 25 and 26, 2009, nine WICPA members and the staff management team gathered to develop the strategic plan that will shape our activities over the next few years. After making introductions, we reviewed the prior strategic plan and WICPA accomplishments since the last plan was developed in 2004. Tom Hood presented a detailed professional issues update before we looked at a variety of considerations impacting our members and the CPA profession as a whole. The environmental scan included the accelerated rate of changes to regulations and professional standards, technological innovations, economic challenges, workplace considerations, succession planning, and generational matters, among others. We then explored strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to the organization before determining both a five-year plan for the WICPA and five action steps to work on during the first year. The strategic plan process, five-year vision, and first year action steps were presented to the Board and staff on Aug. 14. The Board approved the plan following the presentation and discussion. |
