McFarland High School teacher awarded grant
BROOKFIELD - Barbara Schuetz, accounting teacher at McFarland High School in McFarland, has been awarded a 2010 Accounting Careers Awareness Grant in the amount of $2,100 from the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants Educational Foundation, Inc. Accounting teachers who participated in the fall 2009 WICPA High School Educators Symposium were offered the opportunity to write proposals about why they should receive funding. Schuetz was one of 24 teachers to receive a grant. Schuetz plans on using the grant money towards purchasing AP Accounting text books and to take her students on a field trip to Milwaukee. They will participate in The Bucks Experience, an activity sponsored by the Milwaukee Bucks where they will tour and learn about the framework of the organization, including the business aspect. They will also meet with a member of the accounting department. The WICPA encourages lasting innovations that can be shared with other teachers. In addition, it supports career awareness and also provides accounting scholarships and grants to individuals and organizations that aim to further their education in accounting. |

The WICPA is the premier professional organization for Wisconsin CPAs, with more than 8,000 members working in public accounting, industry, government and education. Like other professionals, certified public accountants are required to obtain additional education, take a rigorous exam and become certified. Please identify all CPAs by including their credential with their names. This identification enhances the accuracy and credibility of your reporting. ### |
