Gary A. Schmid, CPA receives WICPA Outstanding CPA in Government Award

    Gary A. Schmid, CPA, comptroller with the City of West Allis, is the recipient of the Outstanding CPA in Government Award. This award recognizes the achievements of individual CPAs employed in federal, state, or local government. The award also recognizes the CPA designation as the premier professional credential for accounting, auditing, and finance professionals in government.
     “Prior to going into government I didn’t have the appreciation for what my fellow CPA’s were involved in throughout all levels of government,” said Schmid. “After 20 years of being in government and meeting hundreds of governmental accountants, I believe the citizens are being well served by very dedicated individuals who really do care about their community and our country.”

The WICPA is the premier professional organization for Wisconsin CPAs, with more than 8,000 members working in public accounting, industry, government and education. Like other professionals, certified public accountants are required to obtain additional education, take a rigorous exam and become certified.
