This is a picture of piggy banks that a high school class made.

Create Piggy Banks

  • Have students bring in an empty, clean (no labels) wide mouth bottle such as a Gatorade bottle.
  • Cut a slit at the top of the bottle between the mouth of the bottle and where the label would be. This is where the coins will be deposited. An adult should do this step.
  • Students can color and cut-out the pig. Click here for a copy of the face of the pig.
  • Attach the pig with tape around the mouth of the bottle. Use double sided tape to attach the nose to the cap of the bottle.
  • Feel free to create a band for the body of the bottle as pictured below.
  • Attach a curled piece of pipe cleaner to the bottom of the bottle for a tail.
  • Feed the pig with a penny, nickel or dime when each student is finished.
