WICPA Volunteer Opportunities

The WICPA offers members opportunities to share their time and expertise with others through community service. We encourage members to explore the options listed below. To obtain information about a particular public service program, click on its title.

Speak at your local high school and spread the word about accounting!

Contact your local high school, talk with the accounting teacher and set a date to speak to the class. The WICPA will provide you with speaking materials including a video, brochures and handouts. For more information click here or contact Mary Murray.

Volunteer Assistance

Volunteer opportunities listed in classifieds

The Wisconsin Institute of CPAs prints free classified ads for volunteer CPAs in
On Balance magazine and on this Web site. The advertisements are from tax-exempt organizations that match the interests of WICPA volunteers but have not been able to find volunteer CPAs after using regular local channels first.

If you know about non-profits that need volunteer CPAs, please tell them about this service. Ads must be less than 50 words and have contact information that refers volunteer CPAs directly to the nonprofit. Ads submitted by the 1st of the month run the following month (January 1 deadline for February).

Eligible nonprofits can inquire about this service by contacting Amy Gaeth.

Volunteer centers offer connection to others, gaining experience

Through the years, WICPA members have volunteered in their communities in a variety of ways, from serving as treasurers on the boards of non-profits to offering their expertise and assistance to non-profit agencies. In an effort to help volunteer CPAs and non-profit agencies connect with each other, we have provided a list of volunteer centers around the state that can be contacted directly. Click here for the list.

Key Legislative Contact

The Public Policy Committee attempts to identify one to three WICPA members as key contacts for each state senator and representative and U.S. senator and Congressman. These key contact persons will be instrumental in providing their legislators with WICPA positions on issues that affect the WICPA and/or the CPA profession.

If you are interested in obtaining more information about this program or are a WICPA member and would like to volunteer as a key person, e-mail Tammy Hofstede.
