Editorial Guidelines for On Balance magazine
Frequency
On Balance is
mailed on or near the middle of every other month, beginning in January.
Copy deadlines
Once arrangements have been made, the following copy
deadlines apply:

Arrangements must be made in
advance with the managing editor. Prefer copy in Word
6.0 for Windows, e-mailed. Send to:

Length
Articles should be a maximum of 750 words.
Authors
Prefer to work on assignment basis. Articles
will be accepted based on the following criteria:

Member-written articles are considered
first.

Unsolicited manuscripts will be
considered if deemed of direct interest to members.

Prefer thoroughly researched and
attributed articles that feature members as sources of information.
-
Articles should focus on the reader’s
interests rather than the writer’s.
-
Articles should relate directly to
accounting and focus on current issues, technical issues and technology.
Also featured are members who are doing innovative things and are
working toward the advancement of the profession. Some common
characteristics of these members include:

develops and champions a successful new
service for a firm, employer, or profession;
-
plays a key role in making a new service
successful; ability to grow a practice or expand services to meet
employer needs;
-
makes extensive use of technology and
has plans to increase use as new innovations
become available;
-
exhibits creativity and entrepreneurial
attributes;
-
and has personal development plan or
vision for future.

Articles should not promote an
exclusive product or service.

Please include a one-sentence biography
at the end of the article.

Please send a professional portrait
(color or black & white) to accompany the article. It will be printed if
there is enough space.
Distribution &
subscription policy
On Balance
is a member benefit and, as such, is primarily
distributed to members of the WICPA. Paid subscriptions are not available;
single issues may be requested by contacting the
WICPA Communications
Department. College and university libraries may receive complimentary
subscriptions and will be put on the mailing list on request.
