Accounting: It all adds up
Based on the
number of college freshmen who are making it their career choice, accounting
is the new no. 1 college major, according to AccountingWeb.com and the Job
Outlook 2005 survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.

More and more students are selecting accounting as a career choice. Part of
the draw to the accounting profession is the job market. There is a steady
growth increase in job openings. The
accountant image has changed as well. No longer are they seen as stuffy pencil
pushers, but
as sexy professionals catching crooks in the business world.

Demand for CPAs is high at the FBI
The FBI has launched an aggressive nationwide recruitment campaign, looking
for CPAs and accountants to battle white-collar crime and terrorism. More
than 1,000 special agents and 2,000 professional support employees will be
added to the FBI’s staff in 2004.
