Professional Membership Eligibility & Requirements
If you hold a certificate as a
certified public accountant, duly issued by and under authority of the Wisconsin
Accounting Examining Board or issued under the laws of any other state, you qualify for
"Fellow" membership. If you have passed the Uniform CPA Examination but have not
yet been granted a certificate, you are eligible for "Associate" membership.
Associate members are automatically converted to Fellow status when the member's
certificate is issued by the Wisconsin Accounting Examining Board or by a similar body in
any other state.
Professional Affiliate Membership
The Affiliate membership category is for individuals who have recently
completed their 150 hour requirement and are eligible to sit for the Uniform CPA
Exam. Affiliate membership provides discounts toward a selection of exam review
courses, networking opportunities, events, continuing education, and much more.
Eligibility for Affiliate membership is valid up to five years following the
completion of the 150 hour requirement.
Members are expected to maintain the high
standards of the profession by obtaining a specified number of credits in continuing
professional education and abiding by a Code of Professional Conduct. Members in public
accounting must also undergo peer review every three years.
Membership dues are payable annually at May 1,
the beginning of the fiscal year. Dues are prorated for persons joining after May 1. New
members will receive an invoice and prorated dues schedule after they submit their
application.

Professional Membership Benefits
Membership in the WICPA offers many

The CPE Department offers quality continuing education through self-study,
on-site training, seminars, conferences, training videos and web casting designed to meet individual needs.

Insurance: Programs
offered to members include, professional liability and group life,
disability and auto insurance, personal property and casualty
insurance.
Low Interest Credit Card:
Members can take advantage of a low interest rate with the WICPA MBNA
MasterCard. As an added bonus, a designated amount per purchase is rebated by
MBNA and donated to the
WICPA Educational Foundation, Inc., which annually awards scholarships to deserving high
school and college accounting students.
Networking: Members
have many chances to network through involvement in
state committees,
task forces,
continuing professional education
and other events.
UPS Discount: Members
of the WICPA are eligible for special discounts on United Parcel Service rates. UPS also
donates a percentage of gross proceeds to the WICPA Educational Foundation, Inc., which
annually awards scholarships to deserving high school and college accounting students.
Voice in Government:
CPAs work in a highly regulated profession. Our members have many opportunities to
exercise their right to a voice in government. They play an active role in shaping the
regulations which govern their profession through legislative involvement. They can become
Key Legislative Contacts, join the Public
Policy Committee, and/or contribute to CPAC
(political action committee) or LIF (legislative involvement fund).
