Meet our speakers
Alice O’Connor
Alice O'Connor is a national motivational speaker,
trainer and coach who focuses on leadership development, presentation
skills, the importance of taking risks, and living a purposeful and
balanced life. With decades of experience in politics inside board
rooms, press rooms and state capitols, O’Connor also serves as
director of Government Relations for the Madison-based Murphy Desmond
law firm, where she represents Fortune 500 clients and nonprofit
organizations. She has a bachelor’s degree in education from the
University of Wisconsin–Madison, a master’s degree in journalism from
the University of Oregon and is a licensed whitewater river rafting
guide.
Cynthia S. Lund
Cynthia S. Lund is
vice president – State Society Affairs for the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Lund collaborates with state
societies on various efforts and coordinates the Center for Audit
Quality’s Public Dialogue tour.
Lund has served the AICPA in various capacities,
including the AICPA’s Strategic Planning Committee and the AICPA/NASBA
National Steering Committee on Regulation of the Profession. She is
vice chair of the board of directors of Shared Services LLC, and is a
member of the American Society of Association Executives.
Prior to joining the AICPA in 2000, Lund served as
executive director of the Missouri Society of CPAs for six years.
Before that, she served as director of communications and Quality
Review for the Ohio Society of CPAs.
