The IRS announced that preparer tax identification number (PTIN) renewal is underway. All tax preparers who prepare returns for compensation must have a valid PTIN.
Renewing your PTIN online takes about 15 minutes. If you prefer to mail your paperwork, it will take four to six weeks to process.
