AICPA asks Congress for PPP deadline delay

The AICPA sent a letter Tuesday, March 10, encouraging congressional leaders to push back the Paycheck Protection Program’s (PPP’s) March 31 application deadline at least 60 days.

The letter, signed by AICPA President and CEO Barry Melancon, CPA, CGMA, contends that the ability of small businesses to apply in time for funding during the current round of the PPP is in jeopardy because of numerous significant system issues, operational process changes and recent guidance released by the administration of President Joe Biden.
