IRS expands help to taxpayers in multiple languages

March 20, 2021

The IRS has announced additional efforts to expand ways to communicate to taxpayers in different languages, including a Spanish version of Form 1040.

Taxpayers who prefer to communicate with the IRS in a different language can now request a preference for communication in Spanish, French and 17 other languages.

While communications may not be immediately sent in the selected language, the IRS notes, the agency will use taxpayer requests to allocate resources and develop communication alternatives based on the reported language preferences.

Additionally, many pages on IRS.gov are available in seven other languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Korean, Haitian Creole and Chinese. Find more resources.
