DOR extends Wisconsin income tax filing deadline

March 19, 2021

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) is extending its deadline for state individual income tax return filing and payment to May 17, conforming to the IRS’ postponement of the federal tax filing deadline.

Wisconsin law provides for an extension of time and waiver of interest and penalties when the IRS extends filing deadlines during a presidentially declared disaster.

Individuals do not have to file any extension forms to be eligible for the new May 17 due date, the DOR stated in a press release. No interest or penalties will accrue during the period of April 15 to May 17. Interest and late filing fees will apply beginning May 18. Read more.
