April 15, 2021

Wisconsin employment will expand by 2.5% in 2021 and 3.3% in 2022, according to a new report from the Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR).

The March 2021 economic forecast update projects Wisconsin to reach the pre-coronavirus pandemic level of unemployment by late 2022. This rate is slightly faster than the national pace, which will reach pre-pandemic numbers by the end of 2022.

The DOR forecast also expects wage and salary income to recover strongly in 2021, growing 5.8% in Wisconsin and 6.2% nationwide. The rest of the forecasted period indicates strong growth above 4% in Wisconsin and the U.S. See the report.
