The IRS is urging taxpayers and tax professionals to continue using electronic options to speed the processing of tax returns, refunds and payments.
The agency is under tremendous strain thanks to the large burden associated with sending out three rounds of stimulus payments, coping with other pandemic-related changes to the tax code, staffing shortages and more.
To speed refunds and avoid delays in processing, the IRS strongly advises taxpayers to file electronically with direct deposit as soon as they have the information they need.
