Building trust in a remote workplace

When teams worked from home in the spring of 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many relied on pure adrenaline and intense pressure to continue working remotely.

As the pandemic progressed on, however, some teams grew frustrated and anxious. The difficulty of long-term remote work takes its toll on production, morale and trust between staff.

Leaders can build trust by encouraging workers to take a timeout, bring the team together virtually to figure out what is not working and collaborate on a plan moving forward, says one leadership consultant.
