Making the most of in-person events by networking first

Like many others, CPAs and financial professionals are eager to resume live conferences and tradeshows in person. But after years of virtual events, they may be a little rusty with networking face to face.

Before paying the registration fee and booking a hotel room, professionals can take steps to ensure the in-person event is as productive as possible.

Rather than wait to connect at the event, CPAs can proactively start rebuilding their lists of accounting and finance contacts ahead of time. LinkedIn is a great social media platform to touch base with others, perhaps even to determine their own interest in the event.

Handwritten notes are also a guaranteed way to get a contact’s attention before an event. Attendees are likely to get a flood of marketing emails from businesses and firms associated with the event, but a handwritten note makes the connection more personal and intentional. See more tips.
