IRS now offering videoconferencing for all LB&I taxpayers

October 19, 2021

All large business taxpayers and their representatives can now request a videoconference with IRS officials, the agency told its employees in the Large Business and International (LB&I) division.

The memo, also outlined in IR-2021-204, puts this change into effect immediately.

The IRS generally suspended all in-person taxpayer examination and appeals meetings in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Up till then, taxpayers meeting with the LB&I division generally did so in person or by phone.

Because the outlook following the pandemic remains uncertain, the IRS will promote videoconferencing for LB&I taxpayer meetings moving forward.
