Gov. Evers awards $86M to small businesses, nonprofits

March 23, 2022

Gov. Tony Evers’ administration recently granted more than $86 million to small businesses in communities disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the governor announced Monday, March 21.

The state’s Diverse Business Assistance Grant Program awarded $57.6 million of the funds to chambers of commerce and nonprofit organizations that help small businesses recover from the pandemic. The grants will help the chambers across the state continue to support work in several key areas, such as coaching, mentoring, digital literacy and financial aid.

The Diverse Business Investment Grant Program is using the remaining $28.8 million in funds to help nine community development financial institutions to continue creating economic and business growth in their areas.

Both state programs use federal funds through the American Rescue Plan Act. Read more.
