IRS to brief tax pros on latest email scams on March 30

March 29, 2022

The IRS will brief tax professionals on the latest email scams during two 30-minute Zoom meetings on Wednesday, March 30.

The IRS has recently seen a drastic increase in criminals attempting to "spearphish" tax professionals’ computer systems using spam emails. Spearphishing is a targeted attempt to steal sensitive information, like account credentials or financial information.

The IRS will present examples of these scam emails during the two briefings. The agency will also discuss best practices to protect yourself and your clients.
