DWD reports good news in BLS March jobs data

The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development on Thursday, April 14, released the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics preliminary employment estimates for the month of March. The data shows that Wisconsin's preliminary unemployment rate declined to a record low of 2.8% in March, down from 2.9% in February. 

Wisconsin's labor force participation rate for March is reported to be 66.5%, up from 66.4% in February and 4.1 percentage points higher than the national rate of 62.4% in March. 

“Place of Work Data” showed Wisconsin’s total nonfarm jobs increased by 1,000 from February to March, while private-sector jobs increased by 500 over the same period.

The number of people employed in Wisconsin has reached a record high. The state's gross domestic product also has reached a record high. View the full report here.
