SEC issues proposed rule changes for ESG funds

May 30, 2022

The SEC has proposed amendments to rules and reporting forms to promote reliable information for investors concerning the incorporation of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors.

The proposed changes would apply to certain registered investment advisors, advisors exempt from registration, registered investment companies and business development companies.

To complement the recommended ESG disclosures, the proposal would require certain ESG reporting on Forms N-CEN and ADV Part 1A for funds and advisors.

The SEC will run the proposal in the Federal Register and will open the comment period for 60 days after its publication. Read more.
