IRS challenges emerge as a top concern for firms

June 10, 2022

Challenges working with the IRS emerged as a top concern for firms of all sizes, according to a new survey from the AICPA.

The recently released 2022 AICPA Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS) CPA Firm Top Issues Survey, conducted from April 19 to May 23, involved 752 firms. The survey provided the firms with a list of issues to rank.

The survey found that IRS challenges emerged as the top issue for firms with 10 or fewer professionals. The IRS issue also ranked as the second top concern for firms with 11-20 professionals and third among practices with 21 or more professionals.

The top issue in last year’s survey was finding qualified staff, which remains the chief concern for the two largest firm categories. While finding staff remains among the top three issues for firms, retaining said staff cracked the top five concerns for only the two largest groups. See more results.
