The Security Summit partners recently unveiled a special sample security plan designed to help tax professionals, especially those with smaller firms, protect their data.
The group of tax professionals from the IRS, individual states and the nation’s tax industry authored the plan to help practitioners still struggling with the development of a written strategy.
Federal law requires all professional tax preparers to create and implement a data security plan. The Written Information Security Plan aims to help them set their focus in developing their own written security plans.
A security plan should be appropriate to the company’s size, scope of activities, complexity and the sensitivity of the customer data it handles, the Security Summit partners noted. Read more.
