Survey: 25% of workers regret joining the ‘Great Resignation’

September 9, 2022

One in four Americans who quit their jobs during the pandemic-related “Great Resignation” now regret their decision, according to a new survey.

Almost 50 million U.S. workers quit their jobs in 2021, hoping for higher pay, more benefits or better career options elsewhere. A quarter of those workers found that the grass isn’t always greener, according to the Q2 2022 U.S. Jobs Market Report from the job search website Joblist.

The survey asked more than 15,000 workers about their outlook about the job market and their expectations for the future.

The most common reason for workers’ regrets is that they quit without having a new job lined up and are now struggling to find a new one. That’s a surprise given the current labor market where open positions exceed the number of unemployed workers. See more results.
