U.S. consumer confidence rose in September, survey says

U.S. consumer confidence rose to a five-month high in September because of falling gas prices, according to a new survey.

The strong labor market and rising wages also gave Americans more confidence, the nonprofit Conference Board reported Tuesday, Sept. 27. The unemployment rate is close to a 54-year low and wages are rising at a faster pace.
