New AICPA program seeks to ease talent shortage

November 24, 2022

The AICPA and Department of Labor recently announced the signing of three large financial companies to the Registered Apprenticeship for Finance Business Partners Program.

The program establishes a group of employees that a finance leader can develop and monitor over time to greatly increase the chance of developing more highly engaged, more skilled, long-term employees.

Under the Finance Business Partners Program, employers select and hire apprentices and provide on-the-job training and mentoring. The employer then communicates with the AICPA on trainees’ progress and provides feedback on the effectiveness of the program.

After completing the training, apprentices will receive the CGMA designation to signify expertise in various aspects of business, according to the AICPA. Apprentices will also receive a Finance Business Partner certificate from the Labor Department. Learn more.
