The IRS is looking for volunteers for its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs next year. The agency is especially seeking bilingual volunteers.
Last year, more than 58,000 VITA and TCE volunteers helped their communities by preparing more than 2.2 million federal income tax returns for individuals and families.
Some volunteer sites now offer volunteers the option of assisting taxpayers online instead of in person. Volunteer hours are flexible and free tax help sites are often located in community centers, libraries, schools and churches.
