Even US companies must comply with EU’s GDPR

Whether your organization is located in the European Union (EU) or not, it may be impacted by the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Companies that process and hold the personal data of EU citizens—regardless of where they’re located—must comply with GDPR or face heavy fines.

The new regulation, created to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe, will become enforceable on May 25.

Some say it won’t be long before similar regulations are adopted here.
