The IRS has moved a public hearing on proposed regulations regarding digital asset transactions currently scheduled to Monday, Nov. 13.
The new hearing date coincides with the deadline for the last day of comments on a notice of proposed rulemaking published in the Federal Register this August.
The proposed regulations relate to information reporting by brokers, the determination of amount realized and basis, and backup withholding, for certain digital asset sales and exchanges.
Given the large amount of interest in the issue, the IRS wanted to give as much advance public notice of the change in advance of the Federal Register notice, the agency said. Interested parties can submit their comments here.
