The IRS will reorganize its leadership structure for the first time in two decades with a previous acting commissioner serving as second-in-command.
IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel announced the new leadership plan on Wednesday, Dec. 13., to help streamline operational efficiency and align with major transformation work underway at the agency. The IRS plans to establish the new leadership structure in early 2024.
