Workers value work-life balance more than pay, study finds

January 22, 2024

Workers prioritize work-life balance over pay when considering their next role, according to a study by employment agency Randstad.

The study found that 57% of workers would not accept a job that negatively affects their work-life balance, while 55% would decline if not offered significantly higher pay.

Work-life balance and pay rank highly on workers’ list of priorities, with both appearing in 93% of the lists.

Meanwhile, the adoption of artificial intelligence is pushing workers to value in-work training, especially in industrial sectors.

The survey, covering 27,000 workers across Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas, also revealed that 39% of respondents are content in their current roles and do not want to progress their careers. See more findings.
