Survey: CFOs play it safe on AI spending

March 25, 2024

According to a recent Deloitte survey, most CFOs plan to spend modestly on generative artificial intelligence (AI) next year as they struggle with challenges such as measuring the technology’s real business value.

Close to two-thirds (62%) of respondents anticipated an allocation of less than 1% of their organization’s budget for generative AI next year, according to the results of Deloitte’s Q1 2024 CFO Signals survey.

Another 37% expected between 1% and 10% of their 2025 budget to be earmarked for generative AI, while only 1% of CFOs expected an allocation of 10% to 25%.

In February, the survey polled 116 CFOs from public and privately held companies across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. See more results.
