Report: Small Businesses showed slight job growth in March

Hiring by small businesses increased slightly in March, while hourly earnings growth for workers at companies with fewer than 50 employees continued a steady deceleration that began in mid-2022, according to Paychex’s latest jobs and wage report.

Of the states reported, the top nine all increased with their rate of employment growth in March with Wisconsin leading the way with a 2.61 percentage point jump.

On the other hand, wage inflation across the U.S. continues to moderate, ending March at 3.27% growth year-over-year — down from 3.42% in February. See more highlights.
