Barry Melancon steps down as AICPA CEO

After 30 years of leading the AICPA as its CEO and president, Barry Melancon has announced his retirement.

During his tenure, Melancon oversaw and directed major initiatives such as the digitization of the CPA Exam and the merger of AICPA and CIMA.

Melancon gave a farewell address at this year’s AICPA ENGAGE conference before announcing the Outstanding Young CPA Award recipients for 2024.

WICPA member Victoria Thayer, CPA, founder and president of Novii CPA in Madison, was one of six CPAs across the U.S. to receive the award.
