Of the 3.5 million paper Forms 2848 (Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representative) and 8821 (Tax Information Authorization) the IRS received in FY2018, more than 384,000 were rejected due to common errors. The IRS has outlined a list of errors they see and offered suggestions that can help tax professionals avoid them.
The agency also reminds tax professional that CAF numbers are valuable cybercriminal targets and shares some simple steps to help prevent CAF number misuse.
