Wisconsin Accounting Examining Board extends time limit to pass CPA Exam

May 1, 2025

The Accounting Examining Board revised ch. Accy 2 to extend the rolling period of credit to pass all sections of the Uniform CPA Examination from 18 months to 30 months.

The amendment also clarifies that the period begins on the date of notification that the first section is passed.

In a preliminary hearing on March 6, WICPA President & CEO Tammy Hofstede commented in support of the rule project.

She also recommended the Accounting Examining Board and Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) make it clear when the rule goes into effect.

DSPS, in collaboration with the board, reviewed ch. Accy 2 compared to national standards and determined that a change of the rolling period for applicants was necessary.

The amendment to ch. Accy2 is now in effect, starting Thursday, May 1, 2025. See the revised examination requirements.
