The IRS is now accepting grant applications for the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programs.
These grants allow eligible organizations to apply for annual funding to provide free federal tax return preparation assistance for up to three years.
In 2025, grant recipients from the two programs helped taxpayers file more than 2.7 million tax returns nationwide.
The IRS will accept applications via grants.gov through Saturday, May 31, for the VITA and TCE grant opportunities.
