House passes budget reconciliation bill with changes to tax provisions

The House of Representatives approved an amended version of the budget reconciliation bill on Thursday, May 22, sending it to the Senate for consideration.

The bill, known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, passed by a vote of 215 in favor, 214 opposed, with one member voting present.

The bill had been debated for more than 21 hours in the House Rules Committee, which then approved a revised version of the bill on Wednesday, May 21.

After the Rules Committee adjourned Wednesday night, the full House took up the bill right away and debated it all night. See the tax changes in the final House bill.
