The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) is reminding retailers to calculate the sales tax on credit card fees charged to consumers.
The taxable “sales price” of a transaction includes charges by a seller for any services necessary to complete a sale, even credit card fees.
The DOR urges retailers who have not yet calculated the sales tax on credit card fees to file amended tax returns and update their point-of-sale systems and/or accounting software.
