The AICPA recently expressed support for bipartisan legislation aimed at promoting greater national fiscal transparency and released survey data indicating that a majority of Americans support such transparency.
In a news release, the AICPA urged Congress to support the Fiscal State of the Nation Act. The House legislation would require the U.S. comptroller general to present an annual report to Congress on the nation's financial statements.
A survey by The Harris Poll revealed that 81% of Americans favor such a report, with 38% indicating they strongly agree. The survey polled 2,079 U.S. adults, including 1,774 registered voters. See more survey results.
