In the coming weeks, millions of PC users will receive pop-up messages from Microsoft, letting them know the company will end support of the Windows 7 operating system in January 2020.
After that, users will no longer receive updates of any kind for Windows 7—not even critical security patches. Computers still using the nearly 10-year-old platform could potentially be at increased risk for viruses and other forms of malware.
The solution? Upgrade to Windows 10 sooner rather than later. Microsoft claims Windows 10 is the most secure operating system the company has ever released.
