The IRS has been working on a draft version of the 2018 Form 1040, eliminating pages and adding new schedules.
The new form, not yet officially posted on the IRS website, will be reduced to two half-pages, cutting more than 50 lines. The first page will include information about the taxpayer and dependents. The second page will include information on income, deductions, credits and taxes paid.
Much of what is being eliminated from the 2017 Form 1040 will be moved to six new schedules.
