Promoting employees’ work-life balance

February 16, 2020

More than half of senior executives check work-related communications when they’re off the clock, according to a recent Inc. survey of CEOs. A third of respondents said they also ask their employees to be available outside their usual business hours.

The 2018 study found that when employees are expected to keep an eye on their inboxes outside work hours, they're more anxious, and their health suffers — as does that of their family members. Even if they don't actually do any work at home or on vacation, the pressure to be "always on" can cause harm.

Senior executives can help prevent the negative effects of employee burnout by establishing healthy boundaries for promoting work-life balance.
