Hundreds of tax professionals have experienced breaches that exposed client information to cybercriminals. Progress against tax-related identity theft is being made; however, cybercrime involving tax professionals continues to evolve.
The information and advice offered are part of an awareness campaign to provide tax professionals with resources to better protect taxpayer data and help prevent the filing of fraudulent tax returns. The lessons are fifth in a series called "Protect Your Clients; Protect Yourself: Tax Security 101."
