DPI revises financial literacy standards

July 1, 2020

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has revised its standards for promoting financial literacy among its students, continuing the state’s national leadership in personal financial literacy.

The 2020 Wisconsin Standards for Personal Financial Literacy, developed by a team of state educators and industry stakeholders, serve as a guide to help students make informed decisions about their own finances.

The new standards include a special focus on one’s mindset for thinking about – and responding to – financial circumstances. The addition of the financial mindset concept sets Wisconsin apart from other states and national personal financial literacy standards. The content focuses on life strategies, financial psychology and digital awareness needed for students to succeed in their financial futures. See more.
