WICPA Key Legislative Contact Program

Each year, thousands of bills are introduced into legislation. Legislators see WICPA members as trustworthy experts, who are knowledgeable and objective when it comes to business and economic issues that impact our state.

To assist the WICPA in its advocacy efforts, we encourage WICPA members who have a direct connection with a legislator to become a Key Legislative Contact.

As a Key Legislative Contact for the WICPA, you can play a vital role in the WICPA's governmental affairs efforts. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a personal or professional relationship with a Wisconsin legislator.
  • Keeping in touch with his/her legislator to foster a relationship.
  • Staying informed of legislative issues.
  • Reading WICPA legislative news and bulletins.
  • Calling, visiting or writing his/her legislator when needed.
  • Presenting WICPA viewpoints regarding the accounting profession to his/her legislator.
  • Inviting and bring his/her legislator to WICPA events.
  • Updating WICPA on important legislative news.
  • Attending legislative fund raisers and functions on behalf of the WICPA.
