IRS launches mobile app with expanded account access

After 15 years as IRS2Go, the IRS’s taxpayer app now offers expanded access to account services under a new name.

The new version, simply titled “IRS,” allows taxpayers to access selected account services and securely view account information and complete a range of self-service tasks from a mobile device.

The IRS said in a news release that users can use the app to access available tax records and transcripts, select notices and letters, payment history, account balance information and identity protection PINs.

The agency said taxpayers can also use the app to make payments, check refund and amended return status, and manage certain communication preferences. Read more.
