Nationwide survey seeks input on how life impacts careers in accounting, finance

October 24, 2026

How do responsibilities and events outside work affect careers in the accounting profession? A national research study explores how these issues affect workload, advancement and decisions to stay in or leave the field, as well as how employers respond.

Researchers at DePaul University and the University of Portland, in partnership with the Center for Accounting Transformation and the Illinois CPA Society, are seeking perspectives from people with and without caregiving responsibilities, including those who have and have not experienced a significant personal event.

The survey is open to anyone who works, or has worked, in accounting, finance or a related profession. The survey takes about 30 minutes and is open through Dec. 18, 2026. The survey is anonymous, and participation is voluntary. Take the survey.
